A community-based workshop to help people manage their diabetes. This workshop is recommended for adults who have Type 2 diabetes or are pre-diabetic. This interactive workshop is designed to improve individual’s A1C’s and reduce the complications associated with diabetes. Topics include:
- Monitoring Your Blood Sugar
- Menu Planning
- Dealing With Stress
- Appropriate Exercise
- Preventing Or Delaying Complications
- Dealing With Depression
- Communication With Your Healthcare Provider
- Action Planning And Problem Solving
This four-week workshop series is for graduates of the Savvy Caregiver program who are either approaching, currently in, or preparing for late-stage Cognitive Decline, Alzheimer’s Disease, or other related Dementias in those they care for.
This advanced program meets for 2 ½ hours weekly for four weeks and covers new and different content from SAVVY Caregiver® focusing on future planning and daily care issues.
The class will be offered:
- Jan. 7 – Jan. 28, from 9:30am to 12:00pm.
Registration for the January class will open Nov. 15.
In the Powerful Tools For Caregivers class, caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools. In the six 90-minute classes, caregivers learn to:
- Reduce personal stress
- Change negative self-talk
- Communicate their needs to family members and healthcare service providers
- Communicate more effectively in challenging situations
- Recognize the messages in their emotions and deal with difficult feelings
- Plus make tough caregiving decisions (replacement, driving issues, or finances)

SAVVY programs are designed to provide the most relevant dementia knowledge, skills, and mastery to support family members as they provide care for their relative or friend living with dementia. Savvy Caregiver programs have been proven to decrease family caregiver distress, burden, and depression, while increasing caregivers’ sense of competence and confidence in their care role.
If you are caring for a person who suffers from Alzheimer’s, dementia, or someone with a memory impairment, and seeking ways to manage your life while being a caregiver, please attend the Building Better Caregivers workshop class.
A community-based workshop to help people manage their chronic pain. This workshop is recommended for adults who are experiencing chronic pain. This interactive workshop is designed to decrease pain and increase vitality.
