SAVVY® Caregivers

Wednesdays, April 2 through May 7
from 6 pm to 8:30 pm
6 week / 2 hour sessions
Group education and care-related skills-training for caregivers of persons living with dementia focused on understanding the course of the illness, strategies for coping with symptoms, and encouraging persons living with dementia to participate in daily activities
The program helps to provide:
- Coping and stress management
- Encouraging Enjoyable activities to do together
- Managing and reducing symptoms
- Improving knowledge and skills related to care.
Wednesdays, April 9 to May 14
from 6 to 8:30 pm
Mondays, April 28 to June 9
from 9:30 am to Noon
(No class on Monday, Memorial Day, May 26th)
A community-based online workshop to help people manage their diabetes. This workshop is recommended for adults who have type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. This interactive workshop is designed to improve individual’s A1C’s and reduce the complications associated with diabetes.
Topics include:
- Monitoring Your Blood Sugar
- Menu Planning
- Dealing With Stress
- Appropriate Exercise
- Preventing Or Delaying Complications
- Dealing With Depression
- Communication With Your Healthcare Provider
- Action Planning And Problem Solvint

If you are caring for a person who suffers from Alzheimer’s, dementia, or someone with a memory impairment, and seeking ways to manage your life while being a caregiver, please attend the Building Better Caregivers workshop class.
Topics include:

POWERFUL TOOLS FOR CAREGIVERS
Tuesdays, May 6 to June 10
from 10 AM to 12:30
In the Powerful Tools For Caregivers class, caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools. In the six 90-minute classes, caregivers learn to:
- Reduce personal stress
- Change negative self-talk
- Communicate their needs to family members and healthcare service providers
- Communicate more effectively in challenging situations
- Recognize the messages in their emotions and deal with difficult feelings
- Plus make tough caregiving decisions (replacement, driving issues, or finances)

SAVVY® Caregiver ADVANCED
Thursdays, June 26 to July 1
from 6 to 8 pm
Savvy Caregiver® 4-Week advanced program for Later Stage dementias
4 Weeks / 2 hour sessions
After completing Savvy Caregiver, family caregivers often ask if there is additional programming they can complete to continue their educational journey. Savvy Advanced is a 4-week program designed for caregivers who have already completed the Savvy Caregiver Foundational or Savvy Express programs.
Savvy Advanced Trains Caregivers to:
- Focus on caregiving skills, knowledge, and attitudes.
- Further refine their problem-solving and planning skills
- Learn additional information about managing behaviors associated with the later stages of the disease
- Further improve communications techniques
- Gain additional behavioral guidance for their particular situation
- Further improve caregiver self-care
- Focus on future planning including later-stage and end-of-life choices and care.

A community-based workshop to help people manage their chronic pain. This workshop is recommended for adults who are experiencing chronic pain. This interactive workshop is designed to decrease pain and increase vitality.
